Cappellini introduces shades of blue in Cologne

A dreamlike fantasy world underpins the Cappellini concept for Köln Internationale MoebelMesse 2011: a dreamy “blue box” to greet visitors, a striking display decorated in various shades of blue, like in a work of art.
Unveiled exclusively for the show is the “Cuba 25” sofa designed by Rodolfo Dordoni: 25 years after its début in the Cappellini catalogue, the Cuba is transformed, updated and revisited in asymmetrical modules of various depths – with and without armrests – that allow for various completely original “diamond-shaped” combinations for a more convivial and contemporary interpretation of the sofa: a truly innovative proposal that confirms Cappellini’s mission to develop new solutions that are closer to the demands of its customers.

The novelties unveiled at the Milan Salone del Mobile 2010 will be presented for the first time in Germany: the “Bel Air” armchair by Jasper Morrison, the “TWB” collection by the young Raw-Edges studio, the “Wanders’ Tulip Armchair” swivel armchair by Marcel Wanders in (obviously) blue cloth. “The Secret Clubhouse” armchair by Martin Vallin, now ready for mass production, will also be exclusively on show. The classics from the Collection will also be beautifully blue: the “Neo Country” stool by Ineke Hans, the “Hiip Table” series of tables by Leonardo Talarico, the “Altavilla” coffee table and “Luxor” table by Giulio Cappellini, the “Mini Bottle” table by E.Barber & J.Osgerby and the large, metal “Bugatti” lamps by François Azambourg from the Progetto Oggetto collection. Other immersions into shades of blue include enamels for containers: ultramarine blue for the “Luxor” by Giulio Cappellini and China blue for “Hi-Fi” by Studio Cappellini. Once again this year, the series of Collection and Series containers plays a fundamental role in the Cappellini display: with simple structures and clean designs, they confirm their remarkable ability to furnish living areas, common areas and offices thanks to their time-honoured compositional flexibility and extremely broad range of colours that have no equal on the market. The possibility of creating both floor standing and hanging compositions, with hinged or sliding doors and closed or open containers, is an opportunity to invent many different solutions for a décor that will always be dynamic and lively. Lastly, visitors will have a chance to experience the comfort of the “Superoblong” sofa by Jasper Morrison, presented in a brand-new denim version, and the “Easy Chair”, also designed for Cappellini by Jasper Morrison, which is now even more technological and flexible.
