Birgit Gämmerler established Zeitraum in 1990 when wood was considered most unfashionable within interior design. Yet it was her believe and love in wood a living material that led her to create well thought out minimalistic, unobtrusive designs that are both ecological and sensual.
From the beginning all her furniture designs were made by local joiners using clever wooden joints as opposed to simple screw together solutions. Even today when the furniture is manufactured in much larger quantities, every piece is made to these same strict quality standards.
