Interiors UAE 2011 to Highlight Future Design Directions and Product Innovation

As interior design industry continues to thrive with total value of contracting projects in 2010 reaching the $15 billion mark

Abu Dhabi, UAE; 1 March 2011 - Interiors UAE 2011 promises an exciting showcase of design trendsetters and product innovations in the interior design industry on May 9 to 11, 2011 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

This year’s highlights include design innovations from Europe’s leading trade interiors events that will be showcased through an ensemble collection of products tipped by some of the world’s most respected design gurus to become trendsetters for the interior design business.

“As the interior design industry continues to defy the slowdown in construction, with total projects reaching $15 billion last year, we will continue to support this growth by providing an unrivalled platform for business networking, and inspiring design professionals in the region with design directions and product innovations from elsewhere in the world,” said Tony Crinion, Event Director, UBM Built Environment, organisers of Abu Dhabi’s only interior design show.

For the fourth year in a row, according to Crinion, demand to exhibit from some of the world’s leading premium brands in the interior design business has been extremely high. “Unlike other shows in the region, Interiors UAE’s exhibitors are higher–end brands servicing the luxury market sector and would fit the profile of visitors expected to attend the show,” he added.

Last year, Interiors UAE welcomed close to 4,000 visitors featuring more than 100 exhibitors, who gained direct access to more than 1,300 key specifiers and designers responsible for delivering major commercial, leisure, residential and retail projects across the Middle East.

Given this business opportunity, one exhibitor from Europe secured several contracts with a projected sale value of AED360 million (US $10 million). “I attend 20 different exhibitions in the GCC region. The show was by far the best exhibition that attracts high quality and professional decision makers from all over the GCC. I actually secured several contracts with a projected sale value of US$10 million,” said Albert Douglas, Alomi/Timberwolf, who is participating again this year.

Among other big-named exhibitors include unique lighting design specialist Sharon Marston, high-end contemporary rugs and carpets suppliers The Old Foundry from the UK, and unusual bespoke and contemporary furniture pieces from Urban Mint, among others.
Interiors UAE 2011 is the only interiors trade event held in Abu Dhabi, offering an exclusive fusion of modern and traditional influences through a unique gathering of international and regional, design led interiors products and industry leaders. It offers educational and inspirational content through various seminars featuring industry trend forecasts and best practices. A student design challenge is also being conducted annually to discover the region’s next generation of interior designers.
