Furniture Retail Quality Group publishes Flammability Best Practice Guide

The new guide – FIRA-FRQG F001: 2011 – has been developed by FRQG to fulfil four major functions:
·         To provide basic information to upholstery suppliers across the global supply chain regarding the requirements of the UK’s Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations.
·         To give a standard interpretation of the testing requirements within the regulations to ensure that all test laboratories around the world are testing in the same way, and hopefully reduce expensive product recalls.
·         To give instructions to test laboratories on test report format to ensure that they are easy to read.
·         To give advice on the age of test reports that will be accepted.

The aim of the guide is to ensure that all suppliers understand their obligations, and that all test laboratories test and report in a harmonised way. The guide can be downloaded for free at http://www.fira.co.uk/document/frqg-best-practice-flammability-guide.pdf.
