From 17 March 2010 Hamiltons Architects started trading under a new name - BFLS, adopting the initials of the new practice's four founding directors: Ian Bogle, Jason Flanagan, David Lawrence and John Silver.
Ian Bogle comments:"The decision to re-name the practice was not taken lightly - we simply felt it was time for us to promote a consistent and coherent message. BFLS symbolises the impressive and wide-ranging body of architecture we are now delivering. Despite the challenges of the current climate, this is an exciting time for us."
"The four of us have individually forged strong and lasting client relationships over the years", comments Jason Flanagan, "and we realise that by placing our names above the door we send out a reassuring message to all our business partners".
Managing Director, David Lawrence says: "We decided to keep the name as simple as possible. We want BFLS to be synonymous with innovative design such as the residential tower at Elephant & Castle, Park House on Oxford Street and The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. We continue to deliver location responsive solutions for office schemes - our work in Hammersmith and Fetter Lane being great examples - and along with our growing international projects, primarily in the Czech Republic and Libya, this represents the start of an impressive platform for the new practice."
"Of course", says John Silver, "we acknowledge our many past successes under the chairmanship of Tim Hamilton. Equally, with Tim's retirement, it is important to look to the future and build upon the excellent collective experience we have here at BFLS."
