GIRO with shade

A setting for reading

Reading means concentrating while at the same time relaxing. This is why this activity calls for a balanced, well-distributed light, but one with just the right degree of intensity, to highlight the white of the page without being hard on the eye. This is just the impeccable balance achieved by the GIRO lamp with its opaque shade, fitted with a double diffuser to ensure superior light distribution.

Relaunch date announced for Savoy

The Savoy Hotel, including the new art-deco Beaufort Bar, is set to reopen on October 10 after being closed for nearly three years, it has been announced

The 268-bedroom hotel was originally expected to close for 16 months for a £100million refurbishment but the cost and extent of the project have grown partly because of the challenge of working on a 19th-century building.

The scheme, led by designer Pierre-Yves Rochon and Reardon Smith Architects, will see the River Restaurant remodelled and the creation of the new Beaufort Bar specialising in cocktails and champagne.

Foucault's Pendulum

In the week after reports that the Royal Institute of British Architects is under the control of the freemasons, news broke that Foucault's Pendulum had fallen to the ground. The 1851 piece of scientific equipment in Paris' Musee des Arts et Metiers, which proved that the Earth rotates, was at the centre of Umberto Eco's novel of the same name, which was about a masonic conspiracy theory.

Spectrum

During Spectrums sales days for the Dutch dealers in March 2010, Spectrum introduced a new item: wall system Paperback. Reactions were overwhelming and the first orders have already been delivered to the shops.
Paperback is a wall system, designed by Studio Parade in 2009. Strength of the design is that it absorbes a minimum of space in your interior, but at the same time has a striking appearance.
By completing the Paperback with books, cd’s or little glass or ceramic products, it gets a very own, almost custom made chart and set of colours. Paperback can be used as a small, big or even wall-to-wall system and is standard available in white.
