Flash Factories at designjunction

A series of interactive Flash Factories at this year's designjunction will demonstrate some industrial and handmade production processes such as the wood-bending machine used to craft the classic 214 chair by Thonet.

Jo Sampson Studio for Waterford creates ‘illuminate’ for Jamie Oliver’s the BIG chair project


To mark the 10th anniversary of Fifteen restaurant, Jamie Oliver’s charity, the Better Food Foundation, has
launched The BIG Chair Project - an exciting collaboration with some of the top names in fashion, art and
design. Furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen™ - a long-standing supporter of Fifteen - has donated
twenty iconic ANT™ chairs to designers and artists such as Paul Smith, Tracey Enim, Burberry and Sarah
Burton from McQueen, to impose a personal, food-inspired design upon the classic design chair which are

NEW BENCHMARK FURNITURE AT LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL


English furniture maker Benchmark is introducing 8 brand new pieces, alongside new versions of existing designs, at this year’s London Design Festival. Exhibiting at both designjunction and Decorex, Benchmark will present different pieces at each show.
The pieces have been designed by a number of leading designers including Terence Conran, Kay+Stemmer and Jens Risom, all of whom are represented in Benchmark’s existing collection, as well as designs by Benchmark’s own in-house team.

HEAL’S AND MELIN TREGWYNT CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF WELSH DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE


This Friday 14th September sees the launch of Heal’s London Design Festival 2012 activities. 
Until 23rd September Heal’s and Melin Tregwynt collaborate to celebrate Melin Tregwynt’s centenary year. This celebration of 100 years of Welsh design and manufacture will be in the form of an exclusive limited edition collection of double cloth welsh wool furniture and accessories showcased with a pop-up Melin Tregwynt shop at the flagship Heal’s store at Tottenham Court Road and online.

The collection is woven in a combination of heritage and exclusive designs and colour ways by Melin Tregwynt. It features several pieces of upholstery including the iconic Balzac chair by Matthew Hilton and best selling Heal’s classics along with coordinating home accessories, including lighting and cushions.
